Richard, played by Zac Efron, dreams of a life on the stage so journeys to Manhattan where he manages to talk his way into the cast of Orson Welles' newest production. The kid immediately gets swept up into this exciting new world as he learns from his brilliant new mentor. When he makes a wager with two of the other actors on who will seduce Sonja, an ambitious secretary at the theatre he doesn't expect that he will have to compete for her affections with Welles himself.
